How To Make Your Hair Grow Faster Tips

How To Make Your Hair Grow Faster Tips

So you want to know how to make your hair grow faster? Make a wish, go to bed and wake up the next morning with a full head of long thick hair. All joking aside, this is of course only possible with a wig or hair implants. There is still no scientific way to accelerate the growth of hair. But there are a number of ways to stimulate healthy hair growth, as well as a range of conditions that should be avoided if you want your hair to grow faster.
The first and best advice is to follow a healthy diet, it’s especially important to be mindful of what you eat when trying to grow out your hair. Resist going on crash diets and doing other extreme measures when growing your hair out as an unbalanced diet will actually slow the growth of your hair and make it more prone to breakage. You should aim to eat plenty of proteins, and be sure to take in vitamin B and vitamin C in particular. Adding a multi-vitamin isn’t a bad idea and prenatal vitamins have been known to improve the look, length and strength of hair. Scroll down this page for more information on this.

Why Would one Want to Make His or Her Hair Grow Faster?

There are many different reasons why someone has the desire to quickly get long, healthy hair and would like to encourage hair growth. Perhaps there was a failed attempt at cutting their hair or when trying to dye their hair. Another reason could be that they had a bad experience with a barber and their looks show for it.  But maybe it’s also just a personal desire to have long hair. And it could also be health reasons that can lead to the loss of a person’s hair.

The facts and rumors of Hair Growth

long brow hairIt would make little sense to explain the chemical composition and the structure of the hair, because it doesn’t really help the person who wants longer hair. Scientists and researchers are already doing studies relating to quicker hair growth on people  and are working on finding the miracle cure. Therefore, we will focus on some facts and rumors that keep coming up on the internet concerning hair growth. More information on hair in general in our what is hair made of article.

My Hair was torn out by the roots – will it  still grow back?

Yes, but in this case it takes longer for the hair to grow back, because a new hair root must grow back first. Even if you have severely damaged you will still grow it back (if you take care of your hair as you should and learn how to treat your damaged hair).

Does Hair grow faster after shaving and cutting?

No. Hair grows from the hair root and grows from the inside to the outside. Therefore, it does not matter how often hair is cut or shaved. Hair below the root is “thicker” and is tapered.  This is why shaving cuts off the hair at the thickest point, which leads to a thicker hair growth appearance, is often mistaken for quicker hair growth. On the question of “how to grow hair faster”, cutting it more frequently is not the solution!

How Hair Grows Faster – What To Do

Next to learning more about how fast your hair grows naturally, the following tips will help your hair grow faster and will also be healthy for your hair.

  • Healthy eating
    • A vitamin-rich diet is probably the best way to get a healthy head of hair because it stimulates the speed of hair growth. Fruit, vegetables and iron-containing foods should be on your  shopping list if you want healthy hair.
  • Brushing the hair
    • Brushing the hair (before and after washing it) stimulates the blood flow to the scalp and distributes the nutrients in the hair more evenly.
  • The Hair’s Moisture Supply
    • There are maintenance agents that can be used in the hair to provide moisture. Also, the use of oils ( e.g. Olive oil) is also recommended.
  • Avoid stresssinger with blonde hair
    • “It’s tearing your hair out.” – The rumor that one’s hair falls out from stress is true, so stay casual and cool and try to avoid stress!
  • Supplements
    • Use food supplements, when you can’t cover your nutritional needs in your normal diet.. Vitamin A, C, H, and all the B vitamins, as well as Copper, zinc, keratin (protein), silica and iron help in the quest for healthy and longer hair.

What NOT To Do

You now know what promotes hair growth and what keeps the hair healthy and stable. Now we should mention the things which are not healthy for the hair. In addition to a poor diet and a lot of stress, here are some things that should be avoided if you want to grow your “dream hair.”

  • Shampoos with silicone
    • This type of shampoos dry out the hair and causes it to break down faster. Blow dryers and flat irons have a similar effect as the silicone shampoos. The hair is almost attacked and becomes unstable when you use these products.
  • UV Lightcurly brunette in the air
    • UV rays bleach the hair which is very destructive to the future of your hair and your looks. If you go in the sun extremely often you should protect your hair by wearing a hat, a hoodie or a cap sometimes.
  • Salt and chlorine water
    • The hair is softened and then becomes dry again, which causes a steady change that is bad for the hair, especially when combined with the sun!
  • Hair ties and clips
    • If these are  worn in the same locations on the hair every day, it can cause the hairs to  break there!
  • Bleaching, dyeing, hair extensions and perms
    • A further explanation is unnecessary, as it is well known that all chemicals, used in this realm, attack and cause damage to the hair.

Minimize Stress

Have you ever noticed that your hair tends to fall out when you are stressed out?  Stress causes a chemical reaction in your body that negatively impacts your health.  These changes are reflected in your outward appearance, including your hair.

Do your health and your hair a favor by minimizing stress.  If you can’t avoid it all together, look for ways to wind-down at the end of your day.  Light exercise, massages and aroma therapy are all great ways to reduce your stress and improve the health of your hair.  Of all the ways to grow your hair faster, reducing stress is one that will benefit your entire body.

Address Medical Problems

If you are eating right and have relatively little stress, but still aren’t getting the hair growth results you would expect, you may want to speak with your doctor.  Certain medication sand conditions can cause hair growth to slow or stop.  More serious conditions can cause your hair to even fall out.

When you talk to your doctor, bring a list of all medications you take, including over the counter ones and any vitamins or minerals.  Your doctor will be able to help determine if your hair problems are being caused by something more serious.

Minimize Damage

Once your hair begins to grow you’ll need to minimize damage caused by styling tools and products.  This means laying off the curlers, straighteners, colorings and other common hair treatments.  Wash your hair, let it air dry and then brush it with a firm, but forgiving hairbrush.  Avoid breaking and damaging your hair at all costs.

It’s not just chemicals and treatments that can cause hair damage.  Wearing your hair in too tight of a ponytail, or styling it in tight braids can also cause hair to become weakened or even broken.  Avoid any style that puts too much pressure on any portion of your hair.

Miracle cures and dietary supplements for full, long hair

There is no “magic bullet” when the question “how to grow hair faster” is asked. As you can see, however, there are many options and ways to promote one’s own hair growth and just as many, or even more situations that should be avoided if you desire to have longer hair.

woman with blonde hair in the sunWebsites, distributors and online shops that advertise getting gorgeous long hair in one or two months and offer these expensive products are usually not as honest  or serious as they could be and have no real answer to the question “how to grow hair faster.” However, there really are some shampoos and vitamin or mineral supplements which stimulate the healthy growth of hair and can safely be used if there is no allergic reaction.

Before  taking supplements, the family doctor should be consulted for help and information about which products can help each individual.

Influences on the hair: Health problems and inheritance

It’s a completely different topic if there is hereditary hair loss or hair loss due to a disease. In such a case it is always advisable to consult a specialist who is advanced in this area to really make sure what is helpful in your situation. Learning how to “grow hair quicker” is usually not at its place here.

Hair Diet

No matter the amount of time and cash you spend perfecting your hair with various products, the health of your hair starts from within. Hair is a a section of the integument (Latin for coating), this is a body system, equal to the nervous system. The integument contains skin, nails and hair. The 3 body parts are related, only hair is a little different because hair grows from the inside outwards. People use various hair products to achieve the desired effect of having healthy hair.

Unhealthy hair

Aside from (obviously) being unhealthy, unhealthy hair often looks ugly. It is dull, dry, has many split ends and it can look very frizzy. Bad nutrition is usually the main cause of unhealthy bad looking hair. Also, healthy hair is easily recognizable because it is usually thick and not dry. Learn more about getting thicker hair on our how to make your hair thicker page.

Add healthy foods to your diethealthy foods for hair growth diet

Avoid a poor diet, such as eating too much salt, sugar and animal fats that is a bad influence to your hair. That kind of diet will also cause stress to the body. It will have a need for more food. You lose vitamin B if you do not eat the right foods. Vitamin B has several different functions in the human body. Among other things, they can help to reduce hair loss and strengthen nails. It isn’t difficult to eat foods that contain vitamin C and B, such as eggs and bread.

Multivitamin pills

Multivitamin pills can be healthy for the hair, but it’s important that we get the proper nutrients and ingredients out of the food we eat. Almost everyone takes multivitamin tablets. A vitamins should be in the multivitamin product you take because it does wonders for your skin, and it gives you a healthy scalp. Vitamin A can be found, for instance, in apricots. Try not to eat healthy foods for hair growthunhealthy foods or to drink unhealthy beverages that deplete the body of nutrients. Try not to eat chocolate, as it is a delicious, but often unhealthy food.

Water and Omege-3 fats

How many glasses of water is essential for healthy hair? To be precise: 8 glasses of water a day minimum would be the perfect amount of water to get healthy looking hair. To clean your body’s system, you drink water. Drink water every day as it is easy to do and cheap. Hair consists for 98 percent out of protein. Tresses are dead proteins. Once the hair from the head grows out, it is dead. So realizing this, it’s easy to conclude that protein should be part of your daily diet. A couple of good sources of healthy proteins are seeds, nuts and fish.

You can take supplements which will help but to be honest with the exception of hormones and certain drugs that can stimulate growth most products sold are bunk. OTC products typically do not contain anything that can stimulate hair growth itself but there are products that will help stimulate blood flow around the hair bulb which in turn can help promote growth.

Did you know that brush your scalp with a natural fiber brush will also help stimulate blood circulation which also helps stimulate your hair bulb? If you brush your hair twice a day and make sure to get the scalp as well then that will also help get rid of the hair that’s shed and stimulates your roots.

i think most people disregard the healthy eating part. there are a lot of people with damaged or ugly hair out there who try out every kind of shampoo who should just need to take care of their nutrition and diet instead of buying all these “miracle” shampoos and/or medicines

I absolutely agree with you. I think their are a lot of troubling hair situations out there which could be solved simply by changing a person’s diet. However, not in all cases. Some people just have such damaged hair that it needs to be treated with a hair treatment. This can be very effective.

i had hair to my hips then totally damaged it and chopped about 14 inches off in august, needless to say i’m looking forward to get my long hair back. it’s grown about an inch and a half since then, but any new tips would be awesome. i just started fish oil supplements a week ago, as well as moroccan oil hair repair mask, and started taking my biotin/collagen/gelatin mix supplements again (which helped last time) anything else? does that horse shampoo really work? also- last time i chopped my hair off about 5 years ago, i took prenatal pills which seemed to work fairly well.

I started taking a vitamin supplement about 2 months ago and i am really seeing a difference. Even my stylist is commented that my new growth is strong and healthy. I really recommend doing this because it helps!

You can also massage the scalp with coconut oil and eat a protein rich diet. Hair growth mostly starts from the inside and not the outside.

i always find it interesting that most people don’t realize that vitamins and healthy nutrients can really stimulate hair growth. vitamins and the right nutrients are key to growing hair…

    • Bianca Armstrong

It’s not just vitamins and the right food which help hair grow quicker, it’s also the way you treat it. I find that regularly combing the hair and using the right shampoo really does help. It’s a long process though.

      • blondiegirl

hmmm i find it hard to test if this all really helps. you never know if it helps cause it takes so long to see the effects….

  • clarafast

I think the best tip on this site is the “healthy hair” tip. Healthy hair is key to hair growth in my opinion, more important as treating or washing your hair with any sort of wonder shampoo. People don’t understand how important nutrition is for the body, also for the hair.

These are great tips! Instead of multivitamin pills though, I would try a hair vitamin. Hair vitamins have extra amino acids that multivitamins don’t.

  • Alice

Hi! I am a hair stylist and first of all I want to tell you what hair growth tips I’m using for me and for my clients. As I learned before the hair consist of eighty percent protein. B vitamin allows it to grow faster with blending in protein.

The new cells are born more quickly and these B complex vitamins help them to grow and produce new cells in higher amount than its normal rate.

The most important tip: just massage you scalp… shampoo every other day and don’t blow dry or straighten(or apply any heat) for a while trust me you will see a difference … i noticed 4 inches IN JUST 2 AND A HALF MONTHS.
